What an interesting group name, haha. As parallel to the fairy tales of Aladdin, we did know that genie is someone who having magical power to fulfill one's need and hope. So, it had exactly brought the meaning of our mission for social engagement, to help out those who in need out there in the society. Then, we should have a brief introduction of every Genie members. It was fun and we were having Jignesh ( a very funny guy and good sense in humour) and Charoo ( a beautiful and confident girl) as our group leaders!! Last but not least... selfie time!!( opps  is "wefie" time)

3.4.2016
Here is the day of our main project which is Walkathon 2016 that is one of the event in collaborated with the 7th Residential Collge University Malaya’s JKP KEP that aim to encourage the more participation of disabled in outdoor activities. In addition, GENIE did raised fund by selling various type of beverages as well as snacks within the campus, faculties and residential colleges. Besides, we also help to locate a fund box in each of the faculties and residential colleges in University of Malaya. Hence, it had result in gaining about RM200 and the fund will be contributed for organizing Walkathon 2016.
For me, it is really a great begin to having such concern on disabled who indeed lack of outdoor exercises in the  residential college. Henceforth, the event aim to raise fund for buying the exercise equipments for disabled in the college. Before the walkathon commence, we had a warm up zumba  session choreographed by Charroo specially for the disabled with a list of music to rock up the good morning. Suprisingly, aside from disabled from 7th Residential College, there are participation from UM students, foreign students and people from public as well. This had put the event into a great success. There are many of them who physically disabled who on  wheelchairs, and some of them are deaf and mute and need to communicate with sign language. However, i'm feeling so happy that they still coming for the walk despite their disabled. Most of us had allocate the breakfast for them, asking for their comfortability, and help them to put on the forehead band with words "WALKATHON 2016"
Great weather for a walk !
we're allocating breakfast for the participants
Warm up with zumba!

we take care of those who with wheelchair
Right after the walk, we locate the participants at the KPS Gazebo, waiting for open ceremony. And we did ask the participants for feeling about the walk. They're all feel like enjoying the whole route though it was just about 1km of walking distance. I can still remember one of the female participant who is dumb and physically disabled. Though she is disabled, she was still active in the zumba warmup session.
I ask her how she feeling, and she showed me a big big thumbs with a heart warming smiling face. =]

Mission accomplised ! We won't miss any selfie time! Lovely Geniesss

GENIE did participate in a charity walk that organized by Faculty Economics and Administration University of Malaya which dedicate for Cerebral Palsy. Through the charity walk, only i realized there is such disease called Cerebral Palsy (CP), which is one of the most common congenital disorder of childhood that affects muscle tone, movement, motor skills (the ability to move in a coordinated and purposeful way). There is no cure for CP, but treatment, therapy and special equipment.

We rise and shine on 7.00am in the morning. The walk is kick off sharplfy at 7.30am. There are many participants including students, lecturers and their families, and people from public and o course, the children with Cerebral Palsy came with their families. Everyone of us will be given a green colour ribbon and  pink colour for the children with CP.

Little cute kid also join the walk.
starting point!

Sherli and me after the walk.

YAY ! we are 3km finisher!

After the walk, we could learn and understand there are many more people out there who really need our helps. Children with rare diseases, like CP had grab their chances for having a normal lives like us. The obstacles in their lives are much more tougher than us to go through. Society should concern on them. Perhaps with the concerning from the public, their lives might changes better gradually. In short, that’s the reason for us to finish a 3km charity walk, to rise hope for the children towards a better life and arise awareness of public to concern more about the disease.

Life is beautiful
